I think Ceci’s rise has hurt Kate’s future with the franchise, even if she does come back next year. Because where are her minutes supposed to come from? Among the wings for next year, Ceci has cemented herself as a core part of this team, Ja is a high-ceiling building block, Juste is coming is with maybe even a higher ceiling, and then we don’t know what she might look like or what her role could be post-injury, but I do think they’ll bring back KT. Just not much left for Kate after those four. For protection, VB, Ceci, and Ja easily take the first 3 spots. Then Juste does need to be protected and gets the 4th. Carla is 5th, but I think pretty solidly 5th. Then the 6th is tough. A healthy KT easily gets a spot. But I think injury + age + unrestricted free agent status could be enough to pseudo protect her. I think it comes down to LA, Rupert, or Kate. All have some positives, all some drawbacks.
