It is likely a man made endeavor that is intended to remain hidden. Is there a similar occulted area at the South Pole? If so that could be a clue to its purpose, maybe? In any case I take comfort that our creator knows what it is and how to deal with it. And there is not a creation that is hidden from his sight, but all things are naked and openly exposed to the eyes of the one to whom we must give an account. Hebrews 4:13
