Great questions! The NEO's being tracked are running from size of basketball to size of a small car. The debris field isn't exactly a stream, it is a swarm and each object has its own orbit. Some are going to be captured by the sun, some captured by Earth. They are running in pairs or even groups however. The NEO database has mushroomed out of control, the impacts we suffer are never fortold or predicted or forcasted and the ones we hear about as possible impacts coming soon, those never impact. So the ones you do not hear about are the ones that will hit us. We just had an NEO pass within 1800 km of Earth, Changed its direction and orbit. Meanwhile we were being distracted by a different NEO that was getting greater headlines.
