Bastard Sons of Buddha and more...

Quick update on everything. Working on a secret album cover for a tiny new band/project, where I'll most likely won't even be credited. So this is a secret inside glimpse just for you. It's fun!

Also, went out drawing a live concert for the first time in ages. Bastard Sons of Buddha is a legendary Bergen band, who started in 1988 and still have yet to release their first album. It's not metal, but when I first heard them in the early nineties it was bands like them and my all time favorite Stratosgutane that defined a "Bergen" sound, not black metal. Black metal was a Norwegian thing, yes, and for the first 10 or so years of casually listening to it I only listened to Bergen based bands, but the Bergen sound to me was eclectic, punk infused, harsh, and groovy. And Bastard Sons of Buddha represented all of that. It was fuckoff-music at it's finest.

Even though they never had an album out, I had the pleasure of working for a few weeks at the also legendary recording studio Kardemommehuset, also completely unknown outside Bergen. I was introduced to Helheim there, who recorded their demos there, met a few other black metal related people, got closer to my heroes in Stratosgutane, and got to test out working in an early version of Pro-Tools with a Bastard Sons of Buddha live recording. I also had a bootleg, but I don't remember if it was the recording I worked on.

So finally drawing the Bastards was so fun! And oh my, it became bloody! So while the light-red on the art is ink, the dark red is the blood of Simon Dancaster, their vocalist. Simon is an energetic and magnetic frontman and the wordsmith behind the two Abbath solo releases.
