I love making #coronart, and the feedback and sales are phenomenal, and the daily routine is part of what's helping me win against the onset of a depression. But it's been a struggle, at times.
At first, full of energy and vigour, I challenged myself to do something new and not use black. Then, once the depression attacked, the challenge was just to do anything. Then it morphed into elaborate acrylic paintings. And I love doing them, but they are time consuming. And if one comes out wrong, as they sometimes do, I'm left exhausted and with nothing to publish.
So one of the things I love about is variety. My most influential artists, like Frank Miller or Sam Kieth still keep changing their style. My favourite music, from Judas Priest to Willie Nelson to Rotting Christ to Mr.Bungle are all defined through their variety. I make a lot of dark.art, yes, but I LOVE plein air painting and portraits and cartooning for kids and superhero fanart with my kids, and it's the variety that keeps my interest.
I have always feared being a one trick pony. As an artist, I pride myself in being many-faced.
So from now in, if you're wondering what kind of art I will challenge myself to make as #coronart, the answer is simply: Various.
