I got a visit from my old friend, artist / street artist Jose Alejandro Retamal. You can find him on instagram: https://www.instagram.com/jose1kunst/
I know Jose from when we were small-time criminal teenagers hanging around Bergen in the late nineties, but our pasts have recently crossed again.
He's going to get featured in the local newspaper with an in depth article about his latest exhibition, and also delving into some of the mental health issues he was dealing with leading up to the exhibit. It's not my place to go into the details, but when he tried to describe one specific episode he thought "This is impossible to put into words: I gotta get Kim to draw it". So... wow, that's a pretty special honour.
We sat down and discussed the episode and the build up to it, while I sketched a few preliminary sketches. Then I took the main sketch home and finished it yesterday. I'm extremely pleased with the result, and Jose is not only satisfied, but said it captured exactly how he felt. So... job well done!
Hopefully it will end up in the newspaper and illustrate the article in a good way. No matter what, it was a very special little detour to be a part of.
