Topic Zone #2 | Illuminati Topic Submission!

Welcome to the 2nd topic submission post for the Patreon Exclusive series, TOPIC ZONE, where I give my thoughts on topics and games you'd like to hear me discuss in a more freeform fashion. Each patreon tier will get its own post for you all to submit your topics too. TOPIC ZONE isn't voting based like the patreon voted review. Instead, the submissions are selected based on a random lottery system and each tier gets its own number of slots. The Gentry get 3 topic slots, the Illuminati get 2, and the Homies get 1 for a grand total of 6 topics I will cover each ep :-) So go ahead and post your topic submission right into the comments of this post and I will record the ep at the beginning of January :-)

Thank you so much for supporting the channel!

Sincerely,

Mark

What makes a good video game story, one that truly utilizes the medium well? If this was discussed somewhere else before I'd love to go take a look at it, and if that's the case then forget my vote, but it's something that I think would be perfect for this.

Mister Mama Mia

I’ve seen you praise shmups that offer an analog control option, but support for analog is often limited to movement speed, retaining the 8-way movement constraint associated with D-pads and arcade sticks (e.g. Ikaruga, Gunvein). Drainus is one exception, allowing movement in any direction. I am not aware of a single vertical bullet hell that supports “full” analog input. Is there a good reason *not* to support full analog control? My intuition is that if someone is using an analog stick, they will be more successful if movement direction is not constrained to 8 directions, but I don’t have I way to test for myself without a really good bullet hell that offers this. What are your thoughts? Does 8-way simply outperform, even with an analog stick? Why is this so rare? Should it be more common?
