Welcome to the first topic submission post for the Patreon Exclusive series, TOPIC ZONE, where I give my thoughts on topics and games you'd like to hear me discuss in a more freeform fashion. Each patreon tier will get its own post for you all to submit your topics too. TOPIC ZONE isn't voting based like the patreon voted review. Instead, the submissions are selected based on a random lottery system and each tier gets its own number of slots. The Gentry get 3 topic slots, the Illuminati get 2, and the Homies get 1 for a grand total of 6 topics I will cover each ep :-) So go ahead and post your topic submission right into the comments of this post and I will record the ep on 11/18/24 :-)

I grew up really appreciating games with emulation and freeware, unfortunately there weren't many great resources I found for shmups(or bmups), so I ended up getting more into roguelikes. It's funny hearing you talk about shuffling, because gunbird 2(and 1 to a lesser extent) was my biggest gateway into the genre. I would definitely recommend Brogue for anyone with a passing interest in traditional roguelikes, but for anyone looking for something with more depth, Dungeon Crawl Stone Soup has the most going on in terms of scorings afaik.
