Monthly Patreon Voted Review NOMINATION TIME!

Hi everyone! I'm excited for this month because we are now settling into the new and expanded era of the patreon and so I thought it would be great to get things kicked off with the classic patreon review nomination post! So the way this works for those new to the patreon is that all you have to do is write down the game (or film or bit of media) you'd like to nominate here in the comments. There's no restrictions or anything other than just one nomination per person. This process will last for a week. Then, on 11/18/24, I'll collect all the nominations and post them to be voted on. The voting phase will last from 11/18 to 12/1 and on 12/2 I'll announce the winner and complete the review in December ;-)

Thank you so much for supporting the channel, it's you all that makes the channel possible and you are my favorites :-)

Sincerely,

Mark

Nice pick!!!!

Hello there. My nomination is Signalis. I feel this game will be looked at like OG Silent Hill 2 one day.

I don't know if Xenia supports it, I've never tried; I got it when it came out and 100%'d it with love. Mark could do Bangai-O Spirits for the DS though, which is very emulatable. Bangai-O is a crazy unique genre and it has a lot of what Mark loves: no unlocks and 100% density.

What a fun pull! Is it easily playable via emulation? For years I made myself believe I missed out before it was delisted, only to go through my 360 purchases before the store closed to find out I was a cool person and bought it when it was available.

Ok, I personally really like how you have to aim and position yourself carefully and use the dash and mini-plane form in a strategic way. Every boss feels really unique and forces you to learn new types of patterns and hazards. Grim Matchstick, Dr. Kahl, Howling Aces and Hilda Berg are probably my favorites. My biggest criticism would probably be that the EX attacks are a bit too weak, to the point that there is not enough reason to engage with the parrying system, though some EX attacks do have their uses.

I guess I just can't stand peashooter shmups.

Can I ask what don't you like about it? Personally I think the boss designs, hitboxes and attack patterns are well done and the bosses force you to get better at the game. I have 250-300 hours in the game and it's been a really interesting challenge to S-Rank every boss with Peashooter only.

I’m gonna second that. Love that movie

This would be sick, I'll be sure to vote for this once I get VJ and Wonderful 101 out of the way. DT deserves discussion!

For the record I think it's a pretty terrible game, but it has received nearly unanimous praise. Does it qualify as a EuroShmup?
