Interesting update, we have a tie for this month's voting between F-Zero GX and Viewtiful Joe! So we're gonna do a quick tiebreaker where in the next 48 hours cast your vote between these two, and then on Thursday I'll count the tiebreaker votes for the winning game :-)

It’s definitely an under appreciated genre in general. People seem to forget it ever existed in the first place. If I ever make a game it might be in the style of F-Zero or Burnout.

2024-09-06 13:22:54 +0000 UTCBut you’re right I wish there were more arcade racers being made. There was one recently released on steam early access called aero gpx. It’s basically a modern take on f zero x but it’s really good. Cell shaded art style and all.

2024-09-05 20:34:24 +0000 UTCI wasn’t saying that’s the reason it’s different than other racers but rather just adding it in there. I’d say it has a way higher skill ceiling than most racers and is definitely harder than the majority too

2024-09-05 20:32:19 +0000 UTCI don’t think a high skill ceiling is that rare in racing games. I think the issue is that arcade style racing games barely exist anymore, with most of the genre being sims, borderline sims, or Mariokart+clones.

2024-09-04 14:35:15 +0000 UTCFor those who don’t know what gx is, it’s not your typical racer. I don’t even like racing games but this one is such an exception. The game is comparable to shmups when it comes to world record chasing and skill ceilings.
