Survey Time! What Bonus(s) Would You Like for a $10 Patreon Tier?
Added 2024-04-15 20:43:00 +0000 UTCHi everyone! As I mentioned in the last podcast ep, I plan on going full time as a youtuber this September (YAY). And since I will be going full time then, I will be revamping the patreon to be more robust and one of the projects is adding a $10 tier. Which I have not done up to this point because I want the 10 tier to be legit something cool and right now I don't have the bandwith to do anything extra. FULL TIME Mark, however, will :-). So I have some ideas already but i also want to hear from you all what you'd like. However, rather than posting your thoughts in the comments, please write them on the linked survey form. Why I want them on the survey form is because I want everyone's thoughts to be isolated from influence of your peers as well as myself. Then as I go through the responses I can see if there is an unbiased common trend. :-) Cheers! And if you aren't interested in a $10 tier that's totally fine, you can just skip out on the survey. I know 10 bucks a month is no joke and not everyone can afford that.

10 bucks isn’t a big ask. You’re kind of the only show in town as far as what you’re doing. We’re members of such a niche community, I’m just happy to support someone who’s dedicated to growing that community. If everything stayed the same; I’d be ok with upping my contribution to 10. Anything more is just a bonus.

2024-04-22 15:37:59 +0000 UTCI can afford and would be willing to upgrade but I just want to say publicly I wouldn't want exclusive releases, I would rather you got your stuff out on YouTube as soon as you wanted in a way that would be healthiest for your channel.

That's a really smart insight where if I wanted to do some content that would be copyright no fly zone, like a commentary on an anime, I could do that for the patrons. Great insight. The wheels are spinning already. A new patron and already coming in hot with the good ideas.

2024-04-16 16:00:57 +0000 UTCI feel similarly. I can afford to jump to a higher tier, and would be inclined to do so simply to support the content in general. Perhaps a degree of timed exclusivity would be good, though something like that isn't a great idea for videos that need a level of timely release. But for more abstract, topical videos that aren't about a current game or some such, I could see a benefit of watching that on Patreon a couple weeks early, before it hits YouTube.

2024-04-16 12:48:00 +0000 UTCI'm a new patron so take my opinions here with a grain of salt. I wouldn't mind jumping up to the $10 patron tier and I don't see it as an extravagant ask. One may feel compelled to compare it to a Netflix subscription and then feel a bit short-changed on the return value. However, that is before one considers the scarcity of this type of content, taking into account the niche subject matter and so on. Any content produced exclusively for patrons is content that doesn't contribute to the discoverability it could provide on youtube. I personally don't feel the need to get anything exclusive for the tier in question. Perhaps if it simply wouldn't do well on youtube, being troublesome due to copyright strikes etc.
