House of Bullets Dev Update #1 - Public Stage 1 Alpha Crazy Close!

Hi everyone!

I haven't talked about it too much publicly, but behind the scenes I have been working like a beaver on House of Bullets. Massive Leaps forward have occurred since the initial alpha I posted on here. Don't even bother to play that one anymore because so much of the game has shifted and improved since that very early point. Since you all are the patrons and I like you the best, I decided to announce it here first, but very soon (within a week or two) I will be posting the Stage 1 Alpha to the public. This will be in the form of a video where I give a full system tutorial of how the game works. The purpose of this public post is to gather playtesting data for not only re balancing the first stage, but also for how I am going to design the following stages of the game. What's funny is that it may seem like the devving for this game is moving at a glacial pace, but I do not think this is the case. During this stage 1 development, I have spent massive amounts of time building in all the systems and frameworks for the rest of the game. So after the stage 1 alpha feedback, I think developing the rest of the game's stages (there will be 5 and tlb of course) will come together more quickly. 

SO WHAT DO YOU ALL GET OUT OF THIS? You are the patrons after all. Well I've been thinking a lot about how I want to reward patron support. What's kinda nice about my patreon is that I am not soley a game dev and this is one of my many projects, so House of Bullets is probably more of a bonus more than anything else. That being said though, I have decided that you all will be featured in the credits of the game. 

Beginning tomorrow (September 2022) all patrons who have been a part of my patreon from Sept 2022 forward will be featured in the end credits of House of Bullets. Even if you are just a patron for a month. However, to be fair the patrons who have supported the channel the longest and have contributed the most will be listed first and have their own little special section. The order of names will be determined by these factors (not alphabetical ha). 

I am thinking about adding other patreon bonuses to the game, but for now this is one that I can guarantee :-) Keep an eye out for the public alpha!

Lol ya I don't even want to think about how long I've been working on replay support! I actually owe a big thanks to you 'cause your "why M2 is important" vid where you go through their UI showing off a bunch of options & features was a big help for narrowing down what kind of features a modern shmup should have for making practicing and newbie on-boarding a nicer experience. It added a lot to my task list :'( but it'll all be worth it in the end! Just wanted you to know your content makes a difference to other indie devs! Good luck, looking forward to checking out your alpha!

Exactly my friend, I didn't realize how much stuff you have to program and how tedious a lot of it can be ha. Damn screen rotation was a total pain.

All the stuff people get to actually see doesn't come into play till after you grind your way through building all the internal stuff that no one else will ever see! :'( I'm still coding daily but haven't posted an updated in forever cause I started over and I'm still trying to get back to what I had before (but coded much better this time around)

Heeeeyyy, Looking forward to seeing it, my skills have improved a fair bit since I playtested your old version so I'm looking forward to see how I fare :)
