In the 2nd half, Spurs went to screen and roll targeting Javale repeatedly. Javale held his own but I think the Spurs will go back to that. LMA is gonna make adjustments so I'd look to mix things up against him and give him a lot of different looks. Gotta keep him uncomfortable. GSW decided to keep 6 centers on the playoff roster for a reason. I think it gives them a lot of versatility with their lineups. I'd continue using Klay's gravity in the offense. Klay has supreme confidence right now. If the Spurs give him airspace, he's making the shot. If they trap or double him, that's gonna leave a wide open teammate.

Another tendency of KD I've noticed is not only does he always use the pocket bounce pass, it's mostly predetermined that if the big man shows he's passing it. He always does it early in the show. He never wants that extra second to see if the guy is actually going to come at him or not. If he'd hesitate just a little longer to see what the show man is actually going to do, he'd probably get a lot more open shots or drive opportunities but it looks like he's pre determined that if he attempts to show I'm passing it. He can play the pick and roll, but he doesn't have the great feel for it like the best guards do. But shit, he's 7 ft tall and can do it better than 95% of the league, so if that's my only complaint on his game then I'm just being picky. That's what happens when you're so good there isn't any real negative thing to say. I will say I've been much more surprised at how good of an all around baller he is since coming to GS. We all knew he could score, but damn dude is good at everything. Just needs to box out more. I think that's his biggest weakness. Bad habits from growing up taller than everyone and just being able to jump over them

JaVale was great on both ends, Looney was pretty good too, I like how hard Looney played and that in itself can be contagious but for me the "star" of the game was the switching & communicating defense which created a buzzsaw from the beginning.

That was very well put Thomas! Iv seen some of those salary threshold charts. They will have to approach it like that with this core 4 moving forward. There are only so many accolades to chase.

We're discussing the effectiveness of intrinsic motivation in one of my classes this semester. Multiple studies show that past a certain point, extrinsic factors like salary and bonuses stop increasing job satisfaction. Intrinsic factors such as pride, responsibility, and enjoyment serve as more effective motivators. It seems like the poor results at the end of the regular season have inspired the dubs to make an effort that they're proud of. They appreciate one another for their individual contributions, and play to each other's strengths. This makes each player feel essential to the team's success. When the Dubs "flipped the switch", you could see the enjoyment on their faces. Rather than striving to steal the spotlight for themselves, they strive to perfect the game of basketball as a team. Watching lock-down defense lead to transition threes is addicting as a fan, so I can't even imagine how amazing it feels as a player. To me, this seems like a far better mindset than ring-chasing. It's more fun, less stressful, and will help prevent the team from getting complacent not just during these playoffs, but in the years to come.

It’s funny because Steph needs to use the pocket bounce pass and KD needs to use the over the top pass. More often*

I will cover some of the bigger games... the process for one of these full breakdowns is about 7 hrs including the game. It’s not possible for me to just pump them out.

glad you mentioned how well scouted KD is on those pocket bounce passes. seems like they touched or deflected 90% of those bounce passes--and also tried to be extra physical with him earlier if he was handling the ball well beyond the arc. fortunately, the rest of the team hustled to pick up those deflections. will be interesting to see what adjustments KD (and the team) will make to fix that.

I knew this team was going to flip the switch. ESPN tried having people believe warriors w/o curry would be most likely to be upset 1st round lol. They forgot we still have KD . Strength in numbers.
