Upload Notes: Halloween Tales, The Ghost

I like to think it's still technically Halloween night when I uploaded this one... so I can say I made it on time and got a story out on Halloween. Right? We're all gonna agree with me.

... Ah, not like it matters. I still have a third Halloween Tale to tell, and that is not coming out before Halloween... as you might've guessed. But hey, who doesn't like a little Halloween leaking into November? This year has been so shit I think we deserve a little extra Halloween~

In any case, I'm happy to get this story out~ Halloween is such a good time, very inspiring for stories! Similarly to the vampire story, I tried to genuinely capture a bit of genuine horror. Working with a haunted house theme allowed me to explore some fun atmospheric details, though honestly I only got a fraction out of what I wanted. Remember my pillars of writing? Yeah, well, I was reaching a point where the horror house stuff was overtaking the size stuff... and for a short story, it was getting a bit clogged as a result. I wanted to have a lot of stuff like... dishes flying off the shelves, lights flickering on and off, uhh slime oozing out of walls... but I narrowed it down to just this general feeling of being lost in a labyrinth-like manor. Ideally, the reader should feel confused and lost, without actually being narratively lost. Hope it worked!

This character, Holiday, haha. Similar to Ellia, I ended up really falling in love with her as I wrote her out~ I initially had some different ideas to go off of, but the theme ultimately was just a giant horny girl basically. One concept was a stalker ghost, and she would have been following the protagonist until Halloween night allowed her to fuck her. Another concept was turning the whole manor into a character, like, the house effectively gained limbs and becomes a giant person wearing the house... but that was way too fucking complicated for writing. (Giant house girls are sick though, it's a shame that the appeal comes so much from visual appeal.)

But none of that happened and instead we got Holiday. Real talk, I love Holiday's name. Something about it feels so right for a ghost girl -- she was gonna be called Holly, but, I thought that was too close to something like "the holy ghost" lol. Cursey has some weird reasons to name things a certain way. Anyway, I like how she turned out. I think I carried forward all the important information, but yeah, I didn't want just "a ghost" for this universe. In my head, ghosts aren't literally the lingering souls of dead people, but rather they're the manifestation of negative energies that go unresolved. In this case, Holiday took her image from the daughter that died there, after spending all her childhood ill and stuck in the manor. When she died as an unfulfilled adult, that negative energy seeped into the manor itself, and thus the ghost Holiday is connected intimately with the house itself.

... Yeah maybe someone cares! I hope someone does haha. I think about these sorts of things a lot, even if there's no super-convenient way to translate that into the text. It's a detail that's not very important, ultimately, to the size enthusiast experience... so I chose to just vaguely mention the details, add to the mystery, but keep focus on the fucky.

Also, I just had to make Brandi a real estate agent. I promised myself long ago I'd do that if I ever shipped a human with a haunted house monster girl. I'm only kinda joking, actually. I had the idea forever ago and it came back to me when I started this, haha. Works out really well, I think! I'd like to have explored the real estate aspect perhaps a little more, I could've leaned on it harder, but again... distractions.

I don't have a firm pipeline for what to expect, but do know that I'm hard at work on Discovery still, and I've still made reservations to write that Splatoon story. Either one could come out this month, so be ready~ But first things first, as far as original projects go, I'm definitely wanting to wrap up that third Halloween Tale, which features a pumpkin girl.
