Howdy! Some Changes Ahead

So, it has been a bit since I did a blog post, I'm a bit rusty. This one will just be for my Patrons, as I have some things to talk about that affect you guys.

The last six months have been crazy. I'm sure you noticed that the number of videos have gone down over that time. As I said in a previous blog post, some of that was me wanting to do a better job on the videos. I think in some ways that have succeeded, in others not so much. Real life has also been a doozy these last few months, which has made the publication schedule for the videos all over the damn place.

But things are finally calming down and should now for the foreseeable future. So that means it's time to get back on track.

So, I've got a plan.

First, Content Polls are coming back! It has been well over a year since I did a poll here on Patreon. Those are part of the member perks, and I've been seriously slacking on that. So that's the first thing. Those polls give me at least a small idea of what will be popular and what won't.

I will also be publishing schedules here on Patreon again. So you'll know when and what I will be publishing each week. Again, those were member perks that I've been slacking on for a bit. Okay, more than a bit.

Next, in terms of videos, there will be (starting Wednesday), a set schedule for releases. Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday.

The podcast will be changing a bit come the new year. We will continue to record live on Saturdays. That live recording will go Patreon only after we record. The edited version will be moved to Mondays. So the final schedule once the pod returns in early January will look like this

Next we need to talk about early access. I have, throughout the years, been very hot and cold when it comes to early access for you guys. Sometimes, I'm AWESOME! Have all the videos! Sometimes it goes months without an early access video. Now that I will be ahead (and I'm already there), early access should be more regular for those tiers that qualify for it. Most videos will come out a day early. The edited podcast probably won't be one of those, as I now have an editor who needs all the time he can get with that.

Regular blog posts will also be making a return. And I plan on getting ahead with those as well, so that I can make sure there is always a weekly one published here and on my other support platforms.

Finally, just to let you all know, starting in January, there will be a bi-weekly Linux User Group taking place on the discord. I'm doing two a month at different times so that I can catch the most people. There has been quite a bit of interest for that, so it should be fun. Granted, if I end up in Voice Chat all by myself one time, it will probably be the end of that. I'll announce times for that after Christmas.  The idea will be that it will be the same time every month, so people can plan around it. It will just be a bunch of nerds in a voice chat, talking about Linux. Should be a blast.

So, I have a plan and I feel better about it. With the way Real Life has been going lately, focusing on the channel has been very hard. But, now that everything is going back to normal, having a plan feels great.

The last thing I need to talk about is the Pinephone Pro video series. The first video of that was supposed to be out tonight (Monday). But, I went to edit it and the broll was unusable, so I need to reshoot it. So that will come out next week. Thanks again to Syd who made that purchase for me, I really appreciate it.

Thanks all of you for your continued support. I know I say it at the end of every video, but without you, the channel would not be where it is right now.

I hope everyone has a great day,

Matt

Looking forward to the pinephon series as well! For me personally you don't need to be so exclusive about the Patreon content cause you'r publishing at such a high rate that I can't catchup anyway. But since 2024 will be year of the Linux desktop, I'm looking forward to lot's of good content! :P
