Podcast Confusion

At the end of the day, I have no clue what I'm doing with the podcast. I made a post last week about some changes, and then didn't really go through with them, though I tried. I wanted to edit out the pre- and post-show and leave it as a live stream, but that's apparently not possible, so it just ended up getting posted as a new video.

Which did fine in views. Honestly, I don't care too much about the views, it was always the impact of the long video of the podcast impacting the rest of the videos I make, that I was worried about.

Every YouTube for beginner's guide tells you that having uber long videos up, and then only getting a small retention rate on those videos hurts any other content you put up that is regular length.

But what I've kind of realized is that nobody knows what they're talking about when it comes to YouTube. And what I was doing, is working just fine. Slow and steady growth is really all I want. So changing what I was doing, will likely only backfire.

So, I'm returning to what I have been doing with the podcast. You guys will get it a day early, and then the edited version will go up in place of the live stream on the channel on Fridays. The only thing I think I'll change is that I'll leave the live stream up publically. It will just be called The Linux Cast LIVE! each week.

If I were LTT, I'd just start another channel, which would automagically get 400k subs in a day and that would be the new home for the pod while the main channel would be renamed and be the home for the regular content. Of course, if I were LTT, I'd have millions of dollars and use Windows because Linux is too hard, so I guess I'm happy being me. LOL

But I think that'd mess things up even more. So I'll go back to what was working for sure, and just stick with that.

Thanks, everyone for being patient with me. I hope the week is going well for you.

Matt
