Debian an BSPWM - An Update

So, as you know, my first long term distro review is going to be Debian. I'm about a week in, and I'm really liking it so far. The horrible installation experience aside, the rest has been very enjoyable. Even switching from stable to bullseye went well.

The thing I was worried about mostly was app availability. I'm so used to the AUR, that having to go out and find a PPA for something just doesn't appeal to me. But honestly, the Debian repositories are much better than I remember them being. Kitty was there, as was rofi, which surprised me. The only thing I couldn't find was Alacritty, which is why I'm using kitty. There is a PPA for Alacritty, but I hate PPAs with a passion.

My next bit of testing will be some gaming. My laptop isn't high end, so I need to find some casual games to play. I'm going to try to structure the review in a better way than normal, and I want to be thorough.

Now, I chose BSPWM for the window manager and I'm really saying that I'm enjoying it. I sometimes forget how much I used to enjoy manual tiling window managers. I3 used to be my jam, if people still say that. BSPWM does it differently with spawn zones or whatever, and I kind of like it.

Scratchpads are going to be the thing I miss most, though. I use them all the time, and I haven't done enough research to know if BSPWM has that functionality or if I'm going to have to find an app to do it for me. Maybe I just use one of those drop down terminal emulators.

Hope everyone has a great week,

Matt
