Debian with BSPWM - My First Long Term Review
Added 2021-07-19 16:51:41 +0000 UTCDistro reviews have always been horrible. Every Fosstuber does them, because they get views, but man are they boring af. Install the distro (as if we haven't seen that 1000 times). Reboot. Talk about the apps installed. End video.
I thought that doing a random distro every Tuesday would be a good thing, but even that didn't last beyond a week.
So, as I've been promising, I'm going to switch to doing long term reviews. I put up a poll yesterday on the community tab asking which distro I should use, and Debian is the winner. Originally I had planned on using it with DWM, but I've decided to go with BSPWM.
I think this should be fun, because I don't know if I've ever really installed Debian on hardware before, it's always been in a VM. I'm going with the stable branch first, and once I get BSPWM installed I may switch to the testing branch.
I also want to come up with a more structured review process. Installation, first set up, configuration, stability, some light gaming, and so on. That should make the reviews more entertaining, and better for me because at least they're not the same boring crap I was doing before.
I think I use Debian for 3 weeks. If that is too long, then I'll do 2 or maybe I'll extend it to a month. We'll see how it goes.
Hope everyone has a great week!
Matt
