The Gentoo Experience

I don't know how many of my Patrons managed to catch that last stream, but man did that take everything out of me.

I installed Gentoo. Or more accurately, I tried to install Gentoo. It didn't work, but I got a lot further than I thought I would. So I guess that's a win.

But goodness, did that whole stream just make me exhausted. I keep trying to think of a scenario where I would try to install Gentoo again, and I can't do it.

I have a lot of subscribers that want me to carry on and see if I can try it, but I just don't think I want to.

The entire idea of Gentoo is beyond me. Why would you want to sit and compile everything on your system? Yes there are binaries that don't take as long, but then why use Gentoo? Doesn't that defeat the purpose? It's all really odd to me.

This must be what those Ubuntu guys think about us Arch guys.

Anyways, a short post this week. I just got my second Covid shot and I'm really tired. So hope you all have a great week!

Matt
