Learning to Code & Installing Gentoo
Added 2021-06-07 19:27:15 +0000 UTCOne of the things that I've wanted to do for a long while, is learn to code. I don't really have any ambition to code for a living or anything like that. I just want to do it as a hobby because it sounds like it could be fun.
As I talked about on the stream yesterday, I think that I've decided on Python as my first full on language (though Bash is going to be happening alongside it). Mostly, I chose Python because there are a lot of free courses out there and I don't really want to take a paid course until I know I can commit to actually learning the language.
I still don't know if I'll make videos about it or not. Most likely, I'll do some noob learning code streams or something like that. Will give me some more topics for the streams, which I'm running out of.
On the subject of streams, I got talked into installing Gentoo. I'm kind of terrified of it, because apparently there are installs where it can take like 24 hours to install Gentoo? I don't know if that's true or not, but if so, that won't be happening. I'm giving it 2 hours. If it can't be done there, I'll suspend the VM and then maybe pick it up at a different time.
Honestly, it's the time component that scares me the most because it is so unpredictable. I think I can find a good tutorial somewhere on how to install Gentoo, so that part should be fine.
