Adventures (or Misadventures) In Xmonad Continue
Added 2021-05-03 23:31:18 +0000 UTCI'll be perfectly honest, I've spent the vast majority of the last few days in dwm, despite promising myself that I was going to give xmonad a real try.
But there's just something severely frustrating about wanting to get something to work only for it to not work. At all. DT and his xmonad stuff makes it look so easy to get xmobar up running, but I can't do it. So, I went and looked at the documentation. Followed that to the letter, and still nothing.
So, I grabbed DT's dots, and installed those in the proper places, and still no. And then someone else's dots, and still no.
Then I watched Ermanno's vid, and I still can't get it up and running.
I did get polybar to work, but it's buggy (or more the way it works is odd with how it highlights what workspace is active). So xmonad is usable, but damn it I wanted xmobar to work. It's a mental thing that's holding me back from going in and making sure everything is the way I want it.
So, I'm going to log into it now before I start editing the vid that will be here on Patreon tonight. Then I can at least say I've been giving it some of my time.
I don't know what I'm doing wrong on the xmobar front. It's very odd. I guess I'll keep soldiering on.
