Local vs Streaming Music
Added 2021-04-20 03:28:40 +0000 UTCThis has really little to do with Linux, but I was curious? Any of you have a preference between using your own music collection or using a service like Spotify?
I've been going back and forth over the last few months, and I can't really decide which I like better. I own all the music I could want. And for music discovery I can do something free like Pandora. So when I do use my local music, I don't feel deprived.
On the other hand, my phone only has 128gb of storage, so it makes more sense to have Spotify. I think. I hate paying for it, honestly.
HexDSL has a way to stream mpd, so I might look at that if it's not too complicated. Maybe a video idea there, IDK. It sounds good, but IDK how it would work in practice. I'm not an audiophile, so I don't need top tier audio playback. But I would like it to not take up a ton of resources on my computer as I don't have a server like he does.
Maybe something like that could be run off a pi? That's something to look into too. I've been meaning to get a pi for ages, so maybe this will finally push me over the edge.
Also. MMmmm pie.
