Software Management on Ubuntu is Horrible

I briefly used Ubuntu on hardware the other day. I like the design they've gone with and it is one of the most stable distros out there, but man, the software selection outside of the snap store is horrible.

Termite, the best terminal emulator ever imho, is not on Ubuntu and won't build.

Picom, which is necessary for so much, isn't there either. I mean how is it not? Maybe there's a ppa that I missed with it, but I couldn't find it.

And that's the point. If your software isn't in the Snap Store, then you're screwed.

Moral of the story? AUR for the win.

I'll also say that I've been very lucky. If I had to give advice, I'd say make sure you update every couple of days. It's when you don't update very often that those conflicts really start to come up. And there's nothing wrong with using Ubuntu. The software situation is just not good for me because there are apps that I use that Ubuntu doesn't have packages for. If you want to try Arch again, try something like Arco or Manjaro. The second especially. They do a good job of holding back arch related problems since all their updates are delayed.

First, I use arcoLinux, which allows for more support than what you get with just vanillar arch. Erik has a ton of vids and they aren't afraid to help. And, the archlinux.org usually has any problems and fixes right on the front page. When I did come up with a problem, it hardly ever had to do with arch. The picom thing I had was a picom problem.
