Good Movies Rule #8: Jurassic Park (1993)

Nicole and Dr. Mattila join James to discuss the all time classic, Jurassic Park.  We cover a lot of ground from Ryan's analysis of Jurassic Park's I.T. situation, to Nicole's sudden desire for the children to be harmed.  Thank you all for support the show, and we hope you enjoy it!

Classic quote from there too when Malcom asks if they’re gonna have that on the tour

Something that wasn’t mentioned scene wise that I loved was when the T-Rex was chasing Muldoon, Satler, & Malcolm, and the camera pans to the mirror that says “objects may seem closer than they appear”

Super late to the game here but wanted to point out a flaw in this amazing film. This is known as the “floating TRex”. So where the trex enters in the rain with the park cars.. pay attention to where it is coming from, because later.. the car falls over the SAME LEDGE WHERE THE TREX CAME FROM. I hate/love it!

Question 🙋why would you put a porta john right next to the trex enclosure seems like a hell of a place for a pit stop

Thanks! I’m glad that you had fun!

Your enthusiasm is contagious! You made me realize how many cool things there was in this movie!

I think my go-to JP line is when Ian says "I'm always on the lookout for the next ex-Mrs. Malcolm." Not a hit on first dates but quite clever.

In many screenwriting books and how-tos, they always state how one should often make their wise characters be a scientist and they almost always use Jurassic Park and Star Trek as a perfect example of just allowing the story to feel plausible in essence and allow the viewers to trust what the on-screen characters are saying.

Great chat on the company's many scandals. Like Cyberdyne/Skynet in the Terminator films, we're given enough to where we both wonder but it's also left to our imagination on how it all truly occured and what other shady behind the scenes stuff happens prior to the film's events without feeling rushed, annoying or too quick to comprehend

Cam Sully

About time you guys did another crowdpleaser. It has literally everything; it's a genre mash-up of action, adventure, horror, scifi & despite not being a comedy, it has many deliberately amusing one-liners/quotes. You guys were on fire with this blockbuster!

Cam Sully

You're about to blow his mind!

Ryan has been loving the Jurassic Park movies so far. He just likes seeing the dinosaurs because I asked what he would rate JP 2 and he gave it a 10/10. I looked at him confused and said, "really??" He said yes. He loved all the dinosaurs destroying stuff. Time to be the good dad and now introduce him to Godzilla.
