I think Jet Li is better than Tony Jaa, but they're both good examples of guys that have incredible physical skills, but lack the charisma of a Jackie Chan or Jean Claude Van Damme who weren't native English speakers themselves.

There's a lot I respect about Jet, and I want to see some of his older work.

He was def wasted in those Expendables films and the less said about his awful Joel Silver/DMX collabs the better but he does have more range than other cool cats like Tony Jaa (who has some fun work as well) and def all these other Hollywood pretty-boys trying to do Action films but like you summed up, he started off with stilted English. He gets better in that inbetween segment but then by 2011, he was back to square one again and apparently has silently retired due to thyroid issues. He was in Disney's live action Mulan apparently and in the trailer again, was back to his bad spoken English. He's stil easily a Top 100 action star but def not going to be in most people's Top 10 lists unless they're martial arts fanatics

Yes, Jet Li like you guys have stated is basically in the same area as a lesser Keanu/Jeff Speakman type where he was likeable enough but shallow in terms of range. He did get better at speaking in English in his Luc Besson/international film collabs (Kiss of the Dragon, Fearless, Forbidden Kingdom, War) but he often like Jackie Chan, disowned his American work but his earlier late '80s/early '90s stuff is classic Action/War/Crime movie mayhem since he was mainly echoing many of the themes of Bruce Lee's catalog while doing his signature "get-back-up-using-only-his-feet" moves & like Jackie, Michelle Yeoh and Donnie Yen, he had his share of eye-catching cool moves
