Exploring an abandoned Hotel on deserted Black Island - Turkey

Living a nomad lifestyle is full of surprises and every now and then we stumble into some strange and interesting places. One of them was a hotel that laid in ruins on the deserted Black Island in Turkey. Situated right in front of the beautiful dark blue sea, I could not help but wonder what this place was once like.

Between the grovel and debris one could still make out the interior design, the style and concept of the different rooms. There was a large terrace where I'd imagined how people must have gazed across the water, basking in the sun once. Though some of the ceilings had already caved in, the view out at sea from the oversized lobby windows remained just the same through time.

The way time and entropy affects our surrounding has always fascinated me. I think about the people who passed through this hotel before and enjoyed their stay, while years later it has become almost unrecognizable. Yet, looking at it, this place has gained a special kind of beauty to me, a history and a depth that cannot be found within anything that has not yet endured the unforgiving and unmerciful passing of time.
