In this episode of Sailing SV CUBA we leave Albania behind to sail south to “where the coconut oil melts”. In our case, that’s a sail to Greece. Because we do not want to arrive at Preveza in the dark, due to the fact that we have to pass through a very narrow canal, we leave Sarande, Albania and Corfu behind us, at 5 am.

Because there was almost no wind, we had to motorsail for some. Everything looks perfect at first, but soon we realize we have forgotten an important detail. Unable to turn back, we improvise, and it only makes the sail to the Ionian Sea more memorable. Later, the wind finally picked up and through our sail Lefkada comes into sight as well as Preveza.

The entrance is a little tricky and wind, waves and currents are against us. It is easy to make a mistake here that could potentially ground the boat and put a stop to the journey. But we make it after all and though we have arrived, we are not allowed to film our sailing episodes on land yet or can even set foot on land overall yet – well theoretically/bureaucratically.
