Many Arcade world record scores were not played on "original hardware" because they had to be restored. Over time boards degrade and need to be worked on. Thus many errors were made when auditing arcades for 100% authenticity. That was the admins responsibility, not the players. When it did happen, usually they either moved the score or invalidate it and have them try again. They did not crucify the player. Well the times have changed. Despite that Billy Mitchell continues his fight to prove his innocence and restore his name by re-scoring his 1,050,000 game again. Well... he did just that.
