3D Print - New Previews, Model Updates, New Videos

We have some previews for the models releasing in May above, and this time most of them are heavily armored. The Human Empire Captain leads the charge as we show the model available on foot as well as mounted on their steed. And what better support for the captain than some loyal Human Empire Knights. The Blessed Sisters, on the other hand, are bringing some of their heaviest armor to bear with the Assault Walker and the Support Walker. Finally the Alien Hives invasion begins with the monstrous Legendary Devourer Titan.

Please remember that these are early WIP shots of the models, and not the final versions of the models.

By popular demand, this week we have updated the Great Death Roller files on MMF, making the gunner turret optional. We have also updated the Storm Ogre files, adding 21 combined versions. We hope you enjoy these new additions!

Next up we have two painting videos from Paintman Journeying to share. First he talks about how a unified paint scheme can help allied forces look like they belong together.

In the next video talks about how and why you should prime your models, featuring several of our Blessed Sisters models.

That's it for this week, happy wargaming!

Comments

Both human Emp and sisters looking awesome as always

Lord Hamster

True and I am aware of that, but I'd rather make my voice heard before it is too late than the models all end up looking like Dwarves. Just wanted to explain why the noise.

Nathan Gerardy

Excited about the new models however I like how usually OPR's unit scale is more realistic than some of its Dnd/WH counterparts. These units however look a little chunkier and more cartoonish. Looking forward to it regardless just hoping there will be a way to make them fit in better with the other units on my table.

TacMint

Its hard to explain, but a lot of the HE renders look a bit weird. Nothing wrong with the design/style, that looks good. But something seems off with the scaling. Everything looks kinda out of proportion, or squished even. Fair enough if that's a design choice, just not my cup o tea. The Sister's Walker looks awesome, can't wait to get that printed and painted.

Mike

Well I'll admit the difference is a bit startling on your picture. I thought the heads were a little big that's all. Then again I'm not sure I would worry about WIP renders.

Gatchaman

I have a good eye for proportion and alarms are going off when I look at the Humans. I would rather make some noise so they can address than now then these designs make it to the final render. The proportions are just way off here if their goal is to make them realistic proportions.

Nathan Gerardy

From the looks of it Empire might be the first release where I print every single model!

Explorer

I cannot believe that the first reflex of some members is to complain and make a list of demands! The preview has me more excited than ever for the HE and AH (next month) I love the sheer variety and modularity of the current OPR models. It's a little overwhelming at times to pick and chose but who would complain about that! Anyway great work! the Empire look like it will have as much personality as the Ratmen did! You guys are killing it!

Gatchaman

Actually given we now know Warhammer Fantasy will have larger bases going forwards dynamic poses will start working. Rank and file on 25mm squares now.

Thannak

So excited for this Empire army.

Thannak

The legs are static but there is a small bit of modularity with the arms. But the model isn't fully posable as is.

onepagerules

that is just the devourer beast, which stat-line specifically has a tongue attack, will most likely not be army wide.

From what I'm reading from the comments about horse:knight scale, it might be good the have a render of a knight beside a horse for comparison. Maybe throw in a different model for comparison.

Mr. Honey

Yeah, the proportions of the horses are way out. They look like shetland ponies.

A halberdier cannot have a shield because it is a two-handed weapon. Best if the halberds are upright when you rank them up. Horses need to be much larger to provide the balance of rider to mount. The volume of the rider should fit into the volume of the horse at least three times. A boar head theme is good but not if every player has the same models. Humans need diversity so keep the bodies, weapons, mounts etc. clean and have heads and shields with monikers from each of the human regions in your world. Putting heads and shields on is easy. A dynamic pose makes no sense for a rank and file trooper. Keep up the good work.

No no not an arbalest. More like a genuine warbow just huge and the other hand has to be free to pull the scifi string and artillery strike the whole map

helloyesthisisdog

You mean an albarest? Arquebuses are rifles :) And it would be easy enough to kitbash, just need a sufficiently ornate bow and a few spears for arrows :)

Stephan Schany

I wish the chainsaw arms were longer, right now they look barely able to reach their knees, let alone hit any infantry in front of them. The chainsaws should replace the hands, not the whole forearms I think.

Brett

Hopefully we can get an alien hives base for it that is more plain than decorative please! Also if this model has so many tongues coming out of it, then I can only imagine what the devourer titan will look like. Otherwise I love the new look!! I’m definitely going for a pacific rim theme

Tam

Dwarven armored knights

Nathan Gerardy

Have to agree on the humans comparing the proportions to the sisters they look like Dwarves almost. The head size to body is only like 5 heads tall. They all only look about 4.5 feet tall based on head and chest size. Hoping maybe they adjust that a bit for the final.

Nathan Gerardy

The knights look fat and need to go on a diet haha! Otherwise very nice models. Also, that captain is missing a sword in his sheath, looks a bit silly.

Bastiaan

The knights have Final Fantasy IX energy in their scaling. They'll definitely stand out, but now I want them to have ViVi as a wizard option :p

Matthew Riley

Nice. Knights are a bit on thicker side, not a show stopper for me. And amount and size of details seem to be right on point. Not too much but enough to make them fancy. And details big enought to highlight them by hand if wanted. It would be nice to have posibility of blank shields and flags for personalized heraldry though.

Jan Vostřel

Proportions on those knights seems a bit off for me..a little stretch would be nicer *personal opinion*

HabMichVerlaufen

I'm afraid the scaling on those knights doesn't really work for me. Not even GW makes them *that* heroically scaled anymore. If I didn't know better I would almost have thought they were riding ponies.

Terje Erwing Bjelkholm

Knights are way to stout.

Joseph McGuire

I wonder if it would work to stretch those knights by 3-5% on the z-axis in my slicer, without losing structural integrety of the file, as they seem a bit too heroically scaled for my liking. Other than that I like the overall design, especially the visored burgonet is always a cool addition.

Deturnation

love the sister walkers but how modular is the kit? I mean, I'd love to pose the arms and legs and give them more dynamic poses

Diego Sanches

The sister walkers are outstanding! 😍

Luke Martin

The empire design are so cool. Love the boars on the shield. They do seem a little thick and stiff as of now. Probably WIP anyway 😉

Luke Martin

Please let us have Alien Hives models that are not vomiting tentacles/tongues/mandibles!!!

John Stroud

At a glance I thought the flail for the sister robot was a giant badass sci-fi arquebus warbow....so like how many signatures do I need to gather for that? Great work as always
