iOS Billing Update (don't worry, we have a workaround)

The delightful overlords at Apple have decided that starting in November, all new memberships purchased through the iOS Patreon App will be charged an additional 30% App Store fee in addition to the cost of your selected tier.
This only applies to NEW memberships. If you’re a current patron, this change won't affect you. You can ignore this message and navigate to one of the many fun internet sites the world wide web has to offer.
If you’re considering becoming a paid patron, the way around this fee is to purchase your membership through mobile web, desktop web, or the Android app. We’d love to have you! Once you sign up, you can login and see your Patreon content in the iOS app — this fee only applies to the actual purchase of a membership.
Sorry about this change, but hopefully you can avoid the fees. Okay, back to making videos and sending you all little updates!

That’s a good point. I knew that, but as a web developer I’m always curious to see how far webapps of popular sites have come! And I think this one is pretty okay. I realise, though, that most people may not have the same curiosity 😅

2024-11-01 22:08:39 +0000 UTCYou can still use the Patreon iOS app. You just don’t want to sign up for any subscriptions to anything from the App Store. Either it costs you more or Apple takes an enormous cut of what you think you’re paying to the service or person on the other side.
