SO. MUCH. STUFF.
Added 2020-02-11 12:44:55 +0000 UTCAs some of you may have already noticed over the past weeks my most common answer to people's requests for game changes is that currently we're focusing on other things and we'll get to those later.
Well now we think it's about time to give you an insight into everything that we're currently working on so that you have a better idea of what's coming at you. :D
Army Updates
First up, we're going to be splitting up a couple of armies into their own separate factions, on the one hand to make things clearer and easier to find, and on the other hand because it will work better for the physical rulebook (more on that later).
For GF/GFF we're splitting up the Mercenaries into 3 factions, each with their own army illustration as well as a new background story section.
Then we're also splitting up the Battle Brothers and Prime Brothers into individual factions in response to more and more Prime Brothers models being released, and if we keep them together the list is going to blow up into something gigantic.
We're also updating the Prime Brothers with new weapons and upgrades, as the list needed some maintenance to keep it up to standard.
Finally we're also giving Change Brothers some Hexed Rifles with AP(1).
For AoF/AoFS we're splitting up the Dwarves into 3 factions, each with their own army illustration as well as a new background story section.
Additionally we're also giving High Elf Princes the option to upgrade to Wizard(1).
That's all the army changes for now, attached the latest versions.
Rule Updates
We're going to be updating the rules for a bunch of stuff, though there are no major engine changes here, so don't worry about that. :)
The AI Rules are going to be re-worked a little, trying to make things a little clearer and maybe adding a new page with flow charts for easy access.
The Campaign Rules are also going to be re-worked, adding some much needed balance changes and clarifications across the board.
The Full Rulebooks are going to be highly re-vamped, with more compact text, new diagrams, and a whole new set of advanced rules. We're going to be making a special post for this as we reach the final version.
The Point Calculators are also going to be re-worked, again with more compact text, much needed clarifications, and an easier to read table view of the army special rules. We're also going to clarify that they are valid for both regular and skirmish versions of the games, as well as add a section on how to convert armies from regular to skirmish games. Again we're going to be making a special post for this as we reach the final version.
Here is a diagram for AoF since we hadn't shown that off yet:

Physical Rulebooks
Yes, you read that right, we're working on physical rulebooks.
Until now this had all been a bit up in the air, but we've finally taken the first steps towards publishing a physical version of the Full Rulebooks using WargamesVault.
By using their service we're hoping to achieve a couple of things:
- Allow people to buy the Full Rulebooks in physical form
- Allow people that don't use Patreon to buy the Full Rulebooks in digital form
- Add a new way for players to find out about OPR
This version of our games will be a combination of the Core Rules, Full Rulebooks, Point Calculators and Army Books, all in one package, and it will be updated on a yearly basis.
We also don't intend to devalue the Patreon model in any way, so it will always be a better deal to support us on Patreon than to buy the digital version off WargamesVault, because you're always getting new and updated content, plus the early access and forum/discord benefits.
If at some point we feel that the digital form of the Full Rulebooks is in any way detrimental to our current business model, then we'll have to remove them. Hopefully however they will be well received by the community and everything goes over smoothly. :)
Mission Cards
For those of you that have been watching the Wyloch's awesome battle reports, you may have noticed that he uses a set of dynamic mission cards to play.
Since we've had so many people requesting more ways to play, we've decided to put together an official version of the mission cards, which you can find in attachment.
The mission cards can either be cut out and sleeved, or you can roll 2D6 to determine a random card from the list. The rules also come with two game modes, each with their unique challenges to overcome if you want to be victorious!
Over the next couple of weeks we're going to be playing around with these some more to see if they are usable for both the regular and the skirmish games, or if we need to make a new set of cards for the skirmish games.
Once we feel that they're ready they'll then go out to the public. :)
3D Print Miniatures
As we announced last week we're going to be adding new 3D print miniatures on a monthly basis for our Tier 3 supporters.
To give everyone a taste of what they can get we've been working with Garin on an updated version of our existing Battle Brothers miniatures, which will be available completely for free via our CGTrader page.
The survey we made last week came out with some interesting results, with the top wanted models being for Machine Cult, Robot Legions and Battle Sisters, so we'll start off by working on those, which should hopefully be ready by the beginning of next month.
Depending on how well received the models are and how many people sign up at Tier 3 we'll have to see how we can scale this up, as I'm seeing that releasing a single set each month might be selling ourselves short, and maybe 2 sets a month would be better.
Anyway, the new free models are almost ready, so we thought you'd like to get a preview of a couple of new weapons, as well as a new helmet design.

Paper Miniatures
Finally this is something that we had mentioned earlier but we feel like it kinda flew under the radar, so now that we have something to show let's talk about it!
Over the past month we've been working with Vurrunna on some paper miniatures that will be available for free as starter kits for our games, and they're coming out great so far.
Right now we've been focusing on Grimdark Future, and the starter kit will come with a couple of Battle Brothers and Orc Marauders to boot. After that we'll be working on some Humans vs Undead for Age of Fantasy, which should also turn out to be pretty awesome. :)
Seeing how not everyone has a 3D printer but most people have access to a regular printer, we're looking into maybe doing something similar for paper miniatures as we're doing for 3D print miniatures, where we release a new set of models every month for Tier 2 supporters. More on that as things develop...
Here a preview of the Grimdark Future miniatures:

So yeah, lots of stuff, and these are only the things that we've already announced in some form or another, because there's even more stuff that we haven't gone into detail on yet that's even more exciting!
But that will have to wait for now... ;)
Cheers,
Gaetano

2020-02-11 13:31:15 +0000 UTCWould it be possible for the Feudal Guard to get updates for some of the latest TMC releases like Command Squads, Highborn Cavalry Officer, Support & Battle Tanks?
