What I'm working on - August 2024

Greetings from the trenches, Patrons. Thanks for the great response on the Wrong video! Glad people are enjoying it. It feels great to have finally delivered on something I've been promising for so long! I've gotten some new sign-ups since posting, so welcome to all you new Lifetime mommies and such.

Right now I am hard at work on this top secret TV show video. I just got back from a trip to London, and I got a little sick while I was there, so I haven't gotten quite as much done as I'd hoped. I'll try to reveal all I can without revealing the ultimate subject.

This is a show I've been secretly obsessed with for a couple years, and it turns out I have quite a bit to say. I am over 50 pages into the script, and it is almost 30,000 words long. I still have several sections left to complete. Why do I keep doing this to myself??? Here's a censored overview of my planned chapters:

Intro

Why [REDACTED]? Or, How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love [REDACTED TYPE OF TV]

The characters

The good

The bad

The elephant in the room

          Subsection: The [REDACTED CHARACTER] Problem

My favorite [REDACTED RECURRING ELEMENT OF SHOW]s

[REDACTED] Drinking game

I'm only just starting the 'elephant in the room' section. I'm hoping I can still go back and edit the script down a little, but man. This is shaping up to be significantly longer than my first Teen Wolf video. But to be fair, I don't usually do a detailed rundown of characters in the TV videos I've made before. For this one, I'm using the character section to give an overview of the major storylines instead of going through season by season or whatever, so it's a pretty long chapter.

Like I said in a previous Patreon video, I did want to try to get this vid out by late September, but with how long it's looking, we'll see if I'm able to make that. It wouldn't be the end of the world if it came out a little later.

This is the last in a string of projects I'd been planning for a while and felt really obligated to make (final Teen Wolf videos, Wrong video). So once it's finished, I'm thinking of stepping back a little, taking some time for my non-YouTube writing, and focusing on the Patreon for a while. Some of you said you'd be into a Dante's Cove video, and I think that would be a good one to make after this new main channel vid! I have a few other ideas for Patreon exclusive videos: I could cover the Step Up movies (recently watched all of them) or maybe make an unscripted video about my Grey's Anatomy opinions (I don't think I have it in me for a full main channel video about it but I do have a lot of takes I'd like to share).

Further watching:

My favorite dance number from my new favorite movie, Step Up: All In

My favorite scene from Twister, which I have watched 2 more times since the last time I talked about it on here, at which point I had watched it 3 times. I can't explain why this is my favorite scene. The cliche emotional crisis works on me. And I like the sort of grotesquerie of Bill Paxton's face (I mean this affectionately). His wet, thinning hair, the gap in his teeth, his scary hooded eyes. The killer delivery of "Christ Jo, is that what you think it did??" They just don't make 'em like that anymore.

Anyway, thanks so much for your patience and your support this month. Keep on guessing! Video coming soon-ish!

my favourite thing about the step up movies is how significantly worse the leads are at dancing than everyone else. they are very good at it, very competant, i couldn't do what they do, but the background dancers are all like professionals and it's extremely noticeable, especially in step up 3d lmao. and when i say lead, i don't mean moose, i mean the people on the poster with the love story

nei vilde

my first thought was also the weewoo show lmao

I’m just happy to be here and see what you come up with next. It’s always brilliant. Your videos are very rewatchable

Jules Inkwell

I’m “all in” on some Step Up content. I saw Step Up 4 in theatres twice in a row, like left the cinema and immediately bought tickets to the next showing.

Jordan P.

Oh yeah, this is somehow def confirming my guess that this will be about 🚒 🔥 🚨 💪 🏅 🐝 (and if I'm wrong, no you did not see this comment lol)

Catherine C.

All good guesses! We shall have to see 😶

Jane Mulcahy

If we're making public guesses, I've narrowed it down to either 🧑‍🚒 or 🏀❤️🎭🏫🎶. Both seem to be logical progressions from the Glee/Degrassi/TW pipeline. I'll be seated regardless!

Finn

These are all great potential videos, us Mulcaheads are going to eat this year. I have a guess as to what the show is but I don't want to jinx it. I'll just hint at it 🐝🌪️

James Perez

ugh you're right I should have thought of that

Jane Mulcahy

It would be really funny if the secret tv show was just Degrassi again.

Beth

I like it...... 🥺

Jane Mulcahy

wait literally seconds after replying I looked it up and realized I have seen it 😭 I watched it like in the last year! but it was pre-Twister obsession so I think I didn't think much of a young Bill Paxton being in it. I remember enjoying it!

Jane Mulcahy

I haven't seen it but it's definitely on my list as an 80s horror movie that's free on Tubi!

Jane Mulcahy

Bill Paxtons scary hooded eyes can be so personal. Have you seen mortuary? There's a scene where evil disturbed mommas boy bill Paxton talks shyly to his crush for a minute and then proceeds to run as fast as he possibly can across quite a large distance and the director lets the scene play out uninterrupted. Other than that the film is mediocre, but worth a watch!

leanna

God this dance sequence is perfectly bad, from the utter lack of chemistry between the dancers to the awkward dance moves, it's truly a gift

Alice K

Smh they should be showing you ads for breakdancing competitions!!

Jane Mulcahy

i think i’ve watched every video on your channel like three times now i’m gnawing at my enclosure

heyitzmae

Nooooooo I refuse to believe it 😔

Jane Mulcahy

Side note: ever since I opened your most recent Step Up tweet, Twitter has been advertising horse grooming services and products to me. Truly a website incapable of parsing metaphor

Air Stratus

The last-minute reveal that you have additional plans for grey’s anatomy threw my singular guess out the window. Whatever the eventual reveal may be, I am both excited at the prospect and tormented by curiosity. I hope the elephant in the room is a writer, director, or showrunner though. I don’t love mishandled productions in practice— I like when people are well-compensated, have enjoyable jobs, and are surrounded by competent people— but my love of mess and catty commentary is indefatigable. Something something I love when years old industry gossip comes out and the film youtubers get mean. Anyway, good luck with your projects, take care of yourself, and I wish you all the best with your personal projects!

Air Stratus

A good guess! We shall have to see 😶

Jane Mulcahy

Ooh I hate being the one to break the sad news! I think she wanted to quit during the filming of the movie 😭

andie bansil

1 - Your content has been so great and the videos have felt really good, it seems like every video you make is one that you WANT to make and that feels great to watch!! 2 - I'm guessing Gossip Girl, and the elephant in the room is Chuck 🤔

Theo

Oooo I will be watching! Did Hunt and Paxton have beef?? That would break my Twistered heart

Jane Mulcahy

Whatever show it is you can bet I will be seated and ready with the popcorn

Kinny

I'm seated, girl 💗 I would love a Step Up video! Love watching rundowns of things I've never watched lol. Also. Definitely recommend Expedition Theme Park's Twister Ride it Out video too. Love that it wasn't actually a ride, love that Bill Paxton and Helen Hunt refused to film their lines together.

andie bansil

A good guess! We shall have to see 😶

Jane Mulcahy

Oh I hope it’s glee. 🙏🏼😭
