What I'm working on - February 2024

Hey Patrons! As promised, I thought I would give some channel updates/spoilers/etc. to keep you in the know. I guess this will be a little like a blog post. An exclusive blog post, which is obviously exponentially better than a regular blog post.

My biggest priority right now is Teen Wolf part 2 (part 3? I guess?) but that probably won't be ready until next month at the soonest. I'm still only on season 4- I think taking such a long break from it let my interest slip, but I'm trying to get back into the werewolf spirit! Wolf Girl Winter!! Everybody give it up for Wolf Girl Winter!!! Awoo!!!!! Here are some highlights from my season 4 notes so far:

I'd like to have a tighter, more esoteric structure for this video. I'm glad a lot of people seemed to like part one, but I honestly don't think it's my best work. It mostly started as escapism while I was living in a place I hated and doing a lot of school work, so I think it's a little more stream-of-consciousness-recappy than I typically like to be. For this coming part, I'm thinking of styling it more like my initial Degrassi video: making sections out of the stuff that I find the funniest and the most interesting as opposed to just going through a play-by-play of each season. And I'm sorry, but I don't think I'll be able to resist making a Sterek segment. Just like a 'how and why did this happen' fandom autopsy kind of thing. I have Theories!

Since that video will likely take a while, I'll probably release at least one other vid in the meantime. I recently watched the Jesse Eisenberg werewolf movie Cursed (2005) (if it's a werewolf movie it counts as Teen Wolf research!) and I truly cannot stop thinking about it, so I think I'm going to try making a video about that. HOPEFULLY something BRIEF... But as I'm sure you all know by now, I tell myself that every time. I just want to go over what's bad about it, and then chronicle the troubled production that led to that. Or maybe the other way around: production first, then what's bad.

I was trying to track down a copy of the film's screenplay online (the real script as written, not one of those transcriptions that some websites do), and all I could find was an actual physical copy used during the shoot going for almost $200 on a movie prop website. And Patrons, when I tell you I was tempted... I had to mentally slap myself on the head with a newspaper like 'No! Bad! You can't afford a $200 script of one of the worst theatrical releases of 2005! What's wrong with you!' Maybe it's the seasonal affective disorder talking? Everybody remember to take your vitamin D3.

Anyway, if the Cursed video is a-go, it'll be out some time this month. And if that falls through for some reason, I'll definitely be making something to release in February. I'll probably be back when upload time comes to consult Degrassi Alums and True Alphas about title and thumbnail options (I really have no idea what I would title a Cursed video), so stay tuned!

And finally, thanks so much for your support this month! I'm already impressed at how many of you there are. I'm always welcome to feedback on what else I could provide for you on the Patreon, so let me know if there's anything specific you'd like to see.

Nice. Free is always best. From the revisions, it looks like the shooting script might come from before they even started shooting in the first place. What gets to me is that the title page of the Sean Hood draft says that it's "based on story and sample pages by Kevin Williamson," which suggests that Williamson never actually wrote a full draft.

luckily in the time since I made this post, I've been able to find a copy of the original script for free online!! it's from 2003 so not the version that was ultimately produced but I think it would've been after the Sean Hood rewrites? tbh I'm still intrigued by the one for sale on the prop site, because it looks like maybe a shooting script? and I'd be interested to know if it's from after all the reshoots happened

It looks like Scribd has the Sean Hood draft from 2002, but it's a subscription service, so I don't know how willing you are to go in for that. https://www.scribd.com/doc/27017237/Cursed-Early-Version

Take all the time you need with the sterek segment lol, that's gonna be a nightmare to unpack. Makes CMBYN discourse look benign by comparison.

Just read about the production troubles on Cursed (a $35 million production turning into a $100 million production???) and suffice to say I'm excited to hear your take on it lol.

WELL I had the same thought, it turns out she was an assistant to Wes Craven in the 90s. so she assisted him on Scream, then associate produced Scream 2, and then was a co-producer on Cursed (which was also by Craven)

Jane Mulcahy

wait is that TVD showrunner queen Julie Plec's actual script?
