Further explanation for poll changes
Added 2018-03-26 23:23:30 +0000 UTCSome people have expressed questions and concerns about the poll changes, so I figure it would do to clarify things a little more.
About the difference between a scene and an event, let's use futa as an example case. A futa scene might be: the player grows a cock, and it gets sucked by someone or something. After she cums, the cock goes away, and that's the scene done.
Whereas a possible futa event: the player is kidnapped, and made to grow a cock. She's then subjected to all sorts of cock teasing experiments, until she can escape and find a way to remove her new body part (tempting as it might be to let her keep it?)
So in a sense, it's the difference in scale and how involved the player is in the kink. The problem I noticed with the previous method of 10 votes = 1 scene, well, there's several:
- It's not viable for certain complicated/involved fetishes
- It can be difficult to quantify what counts as a 'scene' (Especially considering I try to do more player involved ideas than just watching a cut scene.)
- Whatever scene happens needs to fit in with the rest of the area that it's in, otherwise it's just shoehorned in awkwardly (and then never mentioned again.)
- If it involves kinks that can be disabled, I often need to do extra work to let players get through that part without having to see the disabled kink.
As it turns out, doing a separate event altogether addresses all of these problems!
For concerns about less creative control, to an extent, that's true. It will be harder to get your kink into the game without other people wanting it too. But, the payoff will be much more satisfying compared to what it would've been otherwise.
I'm still fiddling with the numbers, so it might change down the line, but right now, this ensures events in the next 4 months of updates, which is definitely enough time to see how things are progressing and if they need tweaking.
And I guess most importantly, I'll still be paying attention to what gets voted on, and whether I can do individual scenes for certain kinks where thematically appropriate. (For example, one upcoming story event involves a powerful mystical cult, so hypnotism/mind control type scenes would fit right in there.)
Hope that clarifies things!
