Scribble #18

A completely random character again, this time a very knowledgeable minotaur :) For some reason I love drawing characters with books :D

(Also, yes, this is from last year, because I completely forgot to scan it XP)

Scribble #18

Comments

I would absolutely interrupt his reading time with inane questions that I could have found by doing my own research for 5 minutes, just to hear the "gods, give me strength" sigh he'd make.

See, the thing I like about these little scribbles of yours is that, even though they may never be in an actual comic, the random characters you come up with on these feel like they have a potentially interesting story to them just by looking at so much as their mannerisms, hobbies, the way present themselves, their choice of clothing, a glimpse of their abilities, their own species and/or even what appears to be the usual look on their face day by day. This scribble tells me, for instance, a big man belonging to a race that we would normally associate with warriors or simply beasts choosing instead to be a caretaker of an old library to get closer of his true passion of books and the knowledge they can give you, as well as the stories both within the realms of fiction and reality they have to tell to those intrigued even enough to seek them out. (Zaphira and Lavender would like this guy for sure, btw) His seeming demeanor potentially also showing someone that may have also grown distant or reclusive towards other people over the years, perhaps partially either due to his interests or, for a lack of a better term, the aforementioned warrior/beast stereotypes involving minotaurs and people not willing to look past them. Of course, I could be just be pulling that last part out of my rear end through observation, but I at the very least feel not wrong about him being more proper and civilized than the average minotaur. Another example I think back to is the magic wielding rabbit warrior from a previous scribble, who, for me at least, gives off the vibe of an lone adventurer of wanders the land helping those in need in his travels along the way. In my head canon, I also see him as like someone who lived in the distant past of the Tree of Life universe, far away from the time of our main cast, aside from Luna, Rah’Jan and the rest of the gods. His hair, to me (whether it was intentional on your part or not) bearing a slight resemblance to the way Solomon and later Toby dressed their hair in the present day, his face despite having more bunny features than either Nigel or Toby, for instance, bearing a resemblance to them as well, perhaps implying this unseeming rabbit warrior could be a potential origin point for the rabiceros race and/or Nigel’s family tree in the present of Tree of Life. How this man would be able to mate with a rhinoceros woman and produce children from that encounter despite not being either scientifically or biologically possible, on the other hand, your guess is as good as mine. lol But I guess anything’s possible in the realm of fantasy, right? The point of this overly long comment I’m trying to get across is that these scribbles of yours really make me appreciate your creativity both in terms of your art style and what you come up with for character designs in your head, all the more, even if they are drawn just to keep yourself inspired and your drawing skills from getting stale for what comes next, and I’m glad to see these come back. Hope to see more of these in the not too distant future. Keep up the good work.
