It's just so sad, they're already really helpful, Nigel is having freakin' psychic visions of the future. Tristan does anything he's asked to, no matter how obnoxious the request is. And Chili cooks, cleans, and has put more energy into team cohesion than anybody else at this point.

In spite of everything that happened and how he turned out, Nigel *was* raised to be a guardian, he understands the situation and his limitations. Tristan spent his childhood as a thief that ran away from any possible confontation, so for the first time in his life that he doesn't have that escape rute, he freezes.

Nigel still thinks clearly, despite being unable to do anything (so far), but Tristan allows his emotions and fear to get the better of him.

2024-08-01 14:57:40 +0000 UTCA beautiful juxtaposition that Tristan and Nigel in times of dread would huddle and Chili would defend, it was only a matter of time before the first major obstacle on their journey gave them the old reminder that this may be harder than they thought. This is also the part where the kid in me just asks, "Will they be alright?"
