I didn't have any specific thing in my mind, I just like randomly mixing creatures characteristics and play with the proportions. I'm more then happy these creatures poked your interest because I'm really happy with the outcome! ^^

And yes, anteaters are great! Seen a few in the wild; that tiny one that climbs on trees that looks like someone attached an anteater head to a sloth's body... they must be so fluffy (I know sloths are, held a few).
