A rejected Missing Moment snippet...

Hi all! Ash here!

A little look behind the scenes: sometimes Yamino doesn't always approve of the Missing Moments text when I send it to her, and sends it back to me for questions, edits, and so on. We often compromise on mood, dialogue... the list goes on! In this particular case, Yamino thought I made the moment a little too sexy for context. I toned it down significantly and took the text in a different direction, but I thought y'all might want to see the original draft. =) Just, you know. For reasons!

With Sabine it's so very easy to forget, at least for a little while. But after a series of increasingly desperate kisses and during a bit of love against a ridiculous but convenient column, Sylvia murmurs into Sabine's ear, "They want me to begin strict quarantine procedures. For each of the city rings, they say, but of course their biggest concern is Red."

Sabine makes a small noise. Nudges in closer, deeper, bless her. "Your council?"

"Mmm." Sylvia shivers all over. "What would you do?"

"With the city? Or the council? I do believe I'm, hm, thoroughly demonstrating what's to be done with you. Like that?"

"Ye-es, ah..." But Sylvia's able to multitask, even in such circumstances. "With both."

Sabine considers. To be fair, she considers while keeping herself otherwise quite busy, so: she's an accomplished multitasker too. "Quarantine won't work," she says at last. "Not on a grand scale, if that's what they're thinking. It's too easy for anyone with... with connections or... influence to bribe someone else to look the other way. But you... Sylvia. Sylvia, eyes open. Look at me."

There you have it! I think Yamino's right that this wasn't quite appropriate for the mood of the MM, but I did very much enjoy writing it. I hope you enjoyed reading it too!
