Hey all! I thought you might enjoy seeing the first pass at a page sketch... it's very unpolished, as you can see! I don't often post pictures of my early sketches for that reason, but I know for some it's really interesting to see. I usually draw my pages in 4 steps:
1. Thumbnail/loose sketch (that's what this is! I plot the art looselt around the text, figure out basic proportions and plan the movement I want the reader's eye to take around the page, making sure it's not confusing!)
2. Detailed/cleaned up sketch (This is where I polish the sketch- add faces, clothing, background details, etc!)
3. Digital "Inking" (aka drawing the final lineart)
4. Flatting (putting down flat colors)
5. Finalizing colors (that's the magic part where all the shading and special color effects come in!)
