Shot on Shitteo and Future Projects Update
Added 2015-06-14 01:01:51 +0000 UTCAs many of you know, our movie "Shot on Shitteo" has been in quite a limbo since the time that filming began. When Jake was let go from the project, basically we had a 90% completed film, and our solution to the problem was to just simply start over and reshoot with Ryan in the lead role. The problem is, I severely don't want want to reshoot it. I've already directed the film, it is what I wanted it to be, I had fun doing it, and I had the drive to do it as well. Reshooting it would be absolute hell for me for many reasons. 1, it would be me remaking a near complete movie that I've already made, and 2, there would be absolutely no passion from me behind it, it would be the most undedicated thing that I've ever directed and the movie would completely suffer from that.
We've joked a lot lately that the movie was quickly becoming our "The Day the Clown Cried," and honestly, yeah, that pretty much is what it is. Lets say I made up for the 10% of unfilmed scenes by putting in an animated sequence, or making it with puppets . That would be funny and all, and honestly I've seen shot on video movies do scenes with puppets, so it wouldn't exactly be out of left field. Problem is, legally we can't release it. All of our movies released on DVD have had consent forms from everyone involved with the productions, and sadly Shot on Shitteo doesn't have those for Jake. The movie was shot extremely quick and we just simply hadn't drawn up the contracts yet, and no one predicted all the drama that would later unfold, so we don't have the consent to release the movie, even in an uncompleted form.
The plus side is, we didn't lose any money on it. The movie was so incredibly low budget, that we already made the money back from the vlogs that were released. Right now the movie isn't edited, all of the raw footage sits on the vhs tapes that the movie was shot on. Who knows though, maybe in the future a copy of it will mysteriously leak online somewhere. Weird how that could happen! Not promising that it would happen though, if by chance it were to mysteriously happen.
Hopefully everyone understands why I don't want to reshoot a near completed movie. I have several passion projects that I've been wanting to get off the ground for a very long time, and my focus right now is on making those movies. I want to get back to making the kinds of movies that I wanted to make years and years ago before we started doing strictly comedy. Reshooting Shot on Shitteo would be something I would have zero passion in, and honestly, I don't want a constant reminder of all the bad shit that went on behind the scenes.
As for other stuff in my life, as bad as the first half of the year has been, the 2nd half has actually been quite amazing. I've got a wonderful girlfriend who has been a primary source of my happiness, my shoulder is healing up, it's been great being back to work on new Snob episodes; plus Crystal Pepsi may be coming back, and Mad Max: Fury Road was 100 tons of high speed Mad Max Fury Road!!
I'm in preproduction right now on a movie called "Shock," that will most likely be filmed in a short shooting schedule in September. There was even talks at one point that the script for "Shock" would just simply be renamed "Shot on Shitteo," and I would shoot it on VHS, but I don't want to shoot that movie on VHS. "Shock" isn't a comedy/horror like "Shot on Shitteo," it's a straight up 1970s drive in movie style horror/thriller. It's not played for camp or selfawareness at all, it simply is what it is. A mother (Sarah) hires a babysitter (Jillian) for the night, who is then stalked by mad man (me), while two cops search for his whereabouts. There's also devil worship involved. The movie will also be strictly released just for Patreon for 5 bucks, with a DVD release to come later. The movie is a lot closer in tone to the early movies I did like "Freak Out," "Cheap" and "Midnight Heat," but obviously shot on a better camera.
Speaking of which, we had talked for years about doing a "Midnight Heat 2." We even had a script ready, and a few starting dates, but budget delays caused us to put it on hold. Obviously now, "Midnight Heat 2" as it is now is kinda sorta dead. I say kinda sorta, because it's a script I really like a lot, and a rewrite on it could turn it into something that isn't "Midnight Heat 2," but it's own seperate story with no connections to the first film. But that's years and years on down the line. There's other things I want to do. I've got scripts for a rape/revenge movie, a 70s style porno, a drama about a downtown streetwalker; lots of stuff that I want to do and have been wanting to do for so long.
So with all the "Shot on Shitteo" drama behind me, I'll hope you like what movies come next.

I was certainly interested in viewing 'Shot on Shitteo' when it released, but I have to say even though it's a shame that it won't get an official release I'm pretty excited about these future projects you speak of. Your movies that lean more towards the serious in tone are probably my favorite works of yours, and it is clear you have a real passion for film making. With all of the personal drama you've had to go through this year it's impressive how consistent your output has remained. I patiently await the future films/projects from you and your crew. Keep up the good work man.

2015-07-17 13:46:05 +0000 UTCYou know what would be kind of funny is if you made a "Shot on Shitteo 3" and just never explained what happened with the previous movies.

2015-06-16 05:19:29 +0000 UTCWell, while I am disappointed that it won't get an official release (assuming it somehow doesn't get leaked in a way that has nothing to do with Brad and company in anyway, shape or form), I fully understand, and look forward to the new projects...

2015-06-15 17:08:10 +0000 UTCUnless the 'mysterious leak' happens to coincide with legal documents being signed, I really don't think a 'mysterious leak' would turn out well for anyone involved, and second the suggestion of just releasing the rape nuts segment as its own thing.

2015-06-15 08:18:30 +0000 UTCJust make sure you only send it to Tim Roth and Michael Madsen first

2015-06-14 21:31:00 +0000 UTCWhy scrap it when there's a chance it could be mysteriously leaked someday? ;)

2015-06-14 18:56:16 +0000 UTCas much as it sucks that the haunted wheelchair segment has to be scrapped, couldn't you still make some money of the other segment(s)? Or perhaps sell the script for the wheelchair segment? it would be a shame to see ALL of it go to waste. Either way, I'm looking forward to whatever you put out next since whatever you put out is usually one of the more enjoyable things on the internet.

2015-06-14 10:22:49 +0000 UTCThe script for the 80's Dan movie is a dark and twisted comedy like that =)

2015-06-14 06:02:51 +0000 UTCWell, I'm kinda sorta excited about how your future movies will look like! And congratulations to the good things in life that came after the not-to-pleasant times :) About "Shot on Shitteo": Well, what's the point of saying "You do the reshoot for Christ's sake because you planned it!"?. First of all I'm not one of the people who demand that (if there are any) and second: I know the feeling of planning something artistic and then have no passion for it anymore while having better options/ideas. It's rather effective for you and your work if you work on movies that you want to be made. On that: Good luck with it! Plus: Even though you sound quite occupied, I hope there will be a next Skype session in the future, too. But don't be stressed because of that.

2015-06-14 05:38:58 +0000 UTCI enjoy the darker stuff as well as the comedy and "Shock" sounds really cool! It sucks that you got so close to being finished with "Shot on Shitteo" when all the drama hit and it absolutely makes sense that you don't want to reshoot it! I mean even without the drama, who would want to reshoot 90% of something when they were happy with what was shot the first time? I for one would love to see Midnight Heat 2 after its been reworked. One of the many things I liked about Midnight Heat was the gritty mystery feel to it, so I'm cerious about the story even with out connections to Midnight Heat. Looking forward to the new projects!

2015-06-14 04:23:04 +0000 UTCI just want to know how we go about getting your Patreon numbers over $8k/month so we can get Close Encounters of the Third Reich. That's the movie I REALLY want to see! And to toss my 2 cents into the mix, I would be very intrigued to see a dark twisted comedy from you. Maybe not even primarily a comedy, I'm thinking something like Evil Dead compared to Evil Dead 2. I think giving the ED2 treatment to say, Cheap could make for something really enjoyable. Of course, you'd have to actually WANT to make that movie before anything else, and I have no clue if that would interest you. Just my opinion.

2015-06-14 03:37:29 +0000 UTCYeah, despite the volume of drama and hard work you've gone through, sometimes a project has to be scrapped fully. I put in two and a half years on a crime drama web series until one actor dropped out right before restarting production because he ignored my emails for two months about the scheduling and prep for it. Then, the straw that broke it was another actor who laid down an unrealistic restriction upon me regarding a boundary of how far he would drive to in order to shoot further scenes. I just couldn't deal with the crap anymore, and so, two and a half years of struggles, setbacks, recastings, and scheduling nightmares ended with all of two disconnected episodes completed and a scattered array of scenes from others. Two years later now, I have not gotten around to starting another production. That's the real difficulty after such a big blow up and shut down - getting back on track to do it all over again. It is deflating that some of these other projects are just done with because there was anticipation around them, but if your hands are tied, you just have to let go of it all. I've had more failures than successes, but that doesn't I don't still want to strive for that success. So, I hope you can focus yourself into that filmmaker motivation, and wash away the memory of the failures with some great successes. Best of luck to you, Brad. Can't wait to see the return to your darker material.
