Damn, I've Been Hacked!

So there I was, asleep on the train, when suddenly my phone starts blowing up.  I may have actually preferred if it literally blew up.  That can never be a good sign, it typically means that there's some drama afoot.  Actually in this case though, just some good old fashioned prankstering.  It seemed that my twitter, skype, tumblr, and a few other things were hacked, so I spent some time fixing that.  I was honestly pretty bored on the train, so that definitely gave me something to do.  I'm still fixing some stuff right now.

The fake skype conversation with Holly is probably still my favorite.  I can't believe it was spoiled that I totally got a new toy!  It's hard to be mad in a situation like this, it's totally just karma from all the years of me hacking Dave's facebook page.  But anyway, a lot of fun was had at my expense, and I can take that, I've spent years running a website having fun at other people's expense, so you get what you give.  The most oft putting one for me was the tumblr hack, which I had forgotten I even had a tumblr set to that account.  I rarely ever even use the tumblr that I do have.  It seemed that the hacked account had even been previously tampered with a long ass time ago and I didn't even notice.  I didn't even change the password on that, I just deleted that account; that shit was weird even for me.

So if you've gotten any weird messages from me or weird posts, whether it's twitter, tumblr, skype, or whatever, odds are it's not me.  In other news though, I'm back home, and taking a day to just chill a little bit.  I still have that Brad Tries that I filmed over Memorial Day weekend that I still need to get to, so I'll probably take a little time today and get that edited together and posted on Patreon.  I really really want to get some Tequila and Bonetti done this week as well.  I still have the one that I've had written for like a month, so fingers crossed I get to that this week.  Plus there's a few Midnight Screenings this week too, including one tomorrow night, so I've got plenty of stuff to do.

In terms of my arm, I've finally got some use out of it now.  There's still a lot of soreness there, and it'll take some time for it to be fully recovered, but it feels a little better every day.  It's always at its worst in the morning, or when Lloyd jumps on it, but this morning it was managable, and Lloyd didn't jump on it too terrible hard.

Another reason why it pays to have multiple passwords and to make sure your email password is both not shared with any others and significantly stronger. I used a combination of xkcd's "correct horse battery staple" long but easy to memorize password method AND including capitalization, numbers and where allowed also symbols. Also, one of my passwords was a randomly generated world of warcraft alphanumeric string that I brute force memorized from typing it in repeatedly that has no meaning and therefore is not guessable even if you know me. :V

Seriously, I would have really wondered if I got any other messages from you than the Patreon blog updates ;) (and besides, personally I'd be little affected anyway since I don't use most of social media). But now I know for certain, in case. I'm looking forward to your next works! And again, good luck with your recovery! However, when it gets better, at least it's something :) But you gotta teach Lloyd stop jumping on you in the morning during your painful days. How about just meowing and screaming "Good morning!" at you or jumping somewhere more harmless (your face for example)? The teaching method must be very amusing then ;)

To help avoid this situation in the future make sure you enable two factor authentication where available (which requires a unique code sent to your phone or generated by an app to log in) and consider using a password manager (like Keepass, LastPass, or 1Password) to give every login a unique and strong password.
