The Fall
Added 2015-02-25 00:12:38 +0000 UTCHey everyone!! Sorry I've been slow at blogging the past few weeks. You'll probably notice I may go through bursts of blogging, then lay low for a little bit, then come back with another burst. I've been out of town a lot lately. Either for conventions, or filming crossovers with friends, or watching some Tequila & Bonetti with friends, or the game show stuff. Plus I've got Indiana Comic Con coming up in a couple weeks as well. But even with my sporadic slow blogging skills, I'm still keeping up to date with giving you guys the Patreon exclusive videos. I've got a couple new Brad Tries to post up tomorrow. Some of them gave me a little bit of a stomach ache, and for me that's saying something. Also, Dave and Ryan have shipped out the posters and shirts as well. I'm recording the voicework for the Lloyd animated series pilot tomorrow, and that should be fun. I really really want to get The Reviewers finished, but it has been subzero temperatures here, and there's a couple of scenes that take place outside. That's the reason for the delay on The Reviewers finale. Once it's above freezing outside, it'll be done. That reminds me, I still need to past the bloopers from the previous episode. So this afternoon I just got done watching The Fall with Jamie Dornan and Gillian Anderson. You guys see this? It's an easy show to get through. It's 2 seasons, but only about 11 or 12 episodes. This was recommended to me after our Fifty Shades of Grey review, because I was told Dornan was very good in this show. They weren't kidding either. As much as I couldn't stand him in Fifty Shades, he is bloody brilliant on The Fall. So much so that he's easily the strongest link on this series. Maybe in Fifty Shades he wasn't used to using an American accent? Maybe he hated the material (which I believe is true)? Whatever the case is, having now seen The Fall, I understand why they cast him in Fifty Shades. The Fall is what Christian Grey would be like if he didn't have billions of dollars. He would be a serial killer. There are many scenes in this series where he's tying up women, including a scene where one asks him "why do you enjoy hurting me" in sequences that almost mirror things in Fifty Shades. But The Fall is a well written series. There's a relationship between Dornan and an underage high school student that may be the sole basis for him being cast as Grey. But skip Grey. Watch The Fall. The show isn't without its faults. Spoilers, I never quite understood why it took them so long to arrest Spector, when the mountain of evidence against him was absolutely insane. I never quite got why Spector's picture wasn't shown to people who saw him at the crime scene. It seemed like a lot of that was overlooked just to keep the Spector character on the streets a bit longer for story purposes. There's some interesting stuff here. Early on in the series, it seems as if it's one sociopath (Anderson) chasing another sociopath (Dornan), both are very very light on emotions and human interaction, but given how Anderson is our protagonist, her emotionless rendered her a little uninteresting as a character at first, but I got used to it over time. This is strictly me talking about the character. Performance wise, Anderson is quite good here. Dexter handled the sociopathic lead quite well at first, because at least in that series, there was some very dark comic touches to the character, but I understand that this show is not Dexter, nor should it be Dexter. This is a very dark and very bleak show. As far as extremely bleak cop shows go, I prefer the leads from The Killing. Say what you will about The Killing, Detectives Linden and Holder were two of my favorite tv cop partners since Simone and Sipowicz on NYPD Blue. But I can totally recommend The Fall based on Jamie Dornan alone. Throughout this series I couldn't even believe it was the same guy I saw talk about anal fisting in Fifty Shades. This is clearly a talented dude, and it's unfortunate more people will probably know him as Christian Grey. Enough rambling for now. I've gotta find another show on Netflix to watch.

2015-02-25 06:20:22 +0000 UTCI can't wait for winter to end. And believe me, I've filmed in this weather before. The outtakes are rather hilarious, but doing it again is not something I would look forward to. So, I wholly sympathize.

2015-02-25 05:30:12 +0000 UTCI'll now have to give The Fall a watch. I also agree with you on Linden and Holder as being a really great pair of partners, the quality of the show notwithstanding. The update on Lloyd and The Reviewers is good to hear and I can't wait for both.
