Peaky Blinders

Crap, a downside of working from home all the time is that if you're at home and doing nothing but watching tv and surfing the web, it sort of feels like going to work and then doing nothing. As you can see by the high rate of stuff I put on the site, I'm kind of a workaholic, so it's taking all my might not to work on anything major until the 1st of the year. Of course that doesn't count vlogs and things like that, I love doing those even when I'm on vacation. There's 5 new movies out in theaters, so we're all scrambling to see which days people are free, and which days we're going to see the new movies that are out. I know we'll be able to see a couple this weekend, and then a few early into next week. Sarah's called extreme high dibs on Into the Woods, so we'll have to wait till she gets back to town on that. Ryan has dibs on Unbroken, and he gets back to town tomorrow. So many movies come out during the holidays, and it's always the hardest weeks to do Midnight Screenings for them, because, well, it's the holidays. People go out of town to be with their families, and my family lives in town, so I hang out with them, and then play video games and catch up on movies on On Demand for a couple of days. My health has gotten a little bit better in the last few days. The light headedness appears to have softened quite a bit, and I'm back to functioning like a regular person again =) The upside of this blog is that I can totally comment on how long I can go without sending my epileptic brainwaves into complete shock via binge drinking; but the downside: the alcohol withdrawal sweats. Those aren't a good thing. So sweaty. Although it is mighty cold out. Perhaps the withdrawals can keep me totally warm this winter! I've got Peaky Blinders playing on the tv, since Craig Ferguson talked the show up so much to the point to where he even got a haircut similar to characters on the show. I totally have my haircut based on The Shield, obviously. Peaky Blinders has passed my good show test. If it catches my attention while I'm doing some things online, and if when I write a blog entry, I go to pause the show, it totally passes my test. Also there's only 6 episodes per season, so even if I wasn't too terribly into it, I'm sure I'd still have been able to get through a season! This show is quite good, it's like Deadwood in Birmingham. The role of the female characters in the show is a bit different when you read about the actual history of the Peaky Blinders, but I guess they didn't really want to do a show where the lead characters just punch and drop kick a woman every 5 minutes for saying something. With that being said, I'm sure that show would totally pass my test of catching my attention via looking up from my computer, but I'm not so sure it'd be for the right reasons. What have I been surfing for on the computer you may ask? Eh, you probably didn't ask, but I love rambling and rambling on this thing, so I'll go ahead and tell you. It's a new year for The Cinema Snob, so I'm ordering some more posters to put into the background which will fit the theme of the year: prominent Italian Horror movies. Naturally the Caligula poster will always be a mainstay, but we need some Fulci posters in the background too, damn it. You know, one day I'll actually get some frames for these posters. I want to frame them up and hang them all throughout the house, and then exchange them out whenever I want for Snob episode backgrounds. That reminds me, I also need to get some shelves for my dining room, so I can display all the empty cans from previous Brad Tries episodes. Crap, now I'm thirsty. That bottle of Pepsi Pink from Japan had better get here soon, that's what the next Brad Tries will be. Hope you enjoyed the Patreon early peak at me and Jake's Kirk Cameron's Saving Christmas Blend coffee!! I'll have you know it'd didn't keep me up too terribly late, but I did manage to take a sip of some Zzzquil before plopping down on the couch.

That coffee video was the only good thing to come from that awful awful... awful movie.

so fucking stoked you're doing italian horror

I typically buy frames for my posters at the Michaels near my place, as well. There's usually a sale (either 50% off or B1G1) or coupon that I'm able to take advantage of. Which reminds me, I need to get some frames for the Donnie Darko and Empire Records posters I got recently...

Glad you're feeling better! I like these blogs you're doing, they're just nice quick reads. Anyway I'm hoping you get around to doing another VOD marathon, I'm interested in what you'll think of The Guest. It's a great throwback film, kind of like The Stepfather.

Nice to hear you're improving, health-wise. As for the midnights, if you see "The Gambler" you might enjoy it nicely. It's not great nor as hard and heavy as the James Caan original (which is on Netflix), but it's a well put together drama. Definitely has a great sort of 60s/70s soundtrack. As for posters, I bought a frame for a 24x36" poster earlier this year at Michaels for $20. They might have a sale going on this time of year for frames.

Be sure to get a big shelving unit, so that all your future items can fit.

Christina Tilman

Please post a pic of the shelves when you get them. It would be amazing to see all those cans and bottles together

Hey Brad, I am really enjoying reading these text blogs, almost worth the Patreon price alone.
