If you want to read a complete copy of Protect and Survive you can often find originals and reprints on eBay... but there are also several copies online.
This one, hosted by Atomica, is one of my favourites, as it's formatted in a way that's easy to read and access, but also captures the 1980s feel of the original document.
While you're there, you can check out Atomica's full collection of civil defence materials, including some companion films for Protect and Survive that genuinely give me chills.

They're fascinating, aren't they. The aesthetic really interests me - sometimes it feels like they couldn't have made it more unsettling if they tried!

2022-10-18 21:22:32 +0000 UTCI'd love to cover some US civil defence materials as well. Like you say, the advice I've seen was pretty ineffective... but you can tell that they were designed to feel reassuring for the public!
