The KDND "Wee for a Wii" Contest
Added 2022-08-23 10:16:00 +0000 UTCAs an addendum to this story, I wanted to share a link which allowed me to fill in a lot of details in this story, and gave me a bit of an idea what kind of content the KDND Morning Rave tended to put out.
This is the Morning Rave website, as archived by the Internet Archive and accessed via the Wayback Machine. I've chosen a capture that's as close as possible to the date of the accident.
A lot of links are broken, and a lot of images and widgets don't show up... but you can still navigate around and find all sorts of interesting things: blogs by the station hosts, details of past competitions, and the roster of bands they were featuring at the time.
It's a really interesting way to step back in time and get a feel for what the culture was like at the radio station in the lead-up to this particular accident!

After Jennifer Strange died, they canxed it immediately and just made it a call in contest instead. Someone called in and asked why, and they straight up said “dude,someone died. They died, so we did our homework and it’s not safe. The only person we torture regularly is [host who regularly and freely volunteers to do dumb things for science]
