While looking for stock footage to accompany this video, I came across this. It's a training film made by Union Carbide (for use in their American plants) about the importance of correctly labelling chemicals. And it's narrated by none other than Leonard Nimoy - AKA Spock from Star Trek.
Safety videos like this were - once upon a time - relatively common. And big companies would often look for a famous face to present their internal safety training materials.
It's a rather surreal and (given what happened just a few years later) ironic thing to watch. It appears that, while Union Carbide definitely cared about safety in their US plants, they (or their subsidiary companies) weren't as concerned with what happened abroad.
