Friendly Saber

Hello guys!

It's time for a new piece of traditional fanart and I was looking forward to drawing some for my favourite Ice Age characters. One of them is Diego, the Saber Tooth! He might appear rough and grumpy sometimes, but he is also a gentle friend^^

I was thinking about drawing him with a more feirce expression, but decided to make him look friendly instead. He is so caring and portrayed well in the Ice Age movies, so I figured he deserved the kind treatment here.

Colouring himw as a bit more challenging since I went for a softer shading than usual, basically trying to capture the original, somewhat realistic looking style a little. Of course the textures created by using Brushmarkers help with it quite a bit. I'm happy with how the feline turned out. The ice was even harder to create but I think I managed and if I'm being honest, I dig the contrast between warm and cold colours here, which is why I decided to add a wall of ice behind him to enhance it even further and frame the character.
