Hey everyone!
Time for the next piece for my little Media Studies series about social networks, technology and photos on websites. This time dealing with photos or so called "Selfies" in particular since they've become a major thing in our society and online platforms.
A selfie has many different reasons for existence: They capture us in one moment, they frame the moment or us /whether it'd be a special occasion like a birthday or concert or just for fun), they shall represent us and perhaps even cause a good reputation for us online, but they also shall cause feedback - positive feedback if possible so we get our well deserved attention for something or can talk about stuff we want to talk about with others in the comments. These and plenty more of tasks for a single photo to fullfill, oh my... still: What if the photo doesn't show reality as it was? Can we look behind the scenes? Can we always see the real reason for a photo being taken or do we really see the person naturally as they are or are they posing instead? taking a billion pics at a time and chosing for the best. (Yes, I know what I'm talking about lol)
What I'm trying to say is that we can not really believe every picture, every selfie we see as things might have been manipulated in some way, whether it'd be photoshop for the pros or just filters, that give a fake impression. It can create "wrong memories".You might never know, but I leave that up for debate^^
Really hope you like this funny little scene here :P Looking forward to what you have to say about it!
Time: Around 2 to 2 1/2 Hours
