Fluyt Sailing Ship

I proudly present the final ship missing from the core list of ships in Pirate Borg and Limithron's Guide to Naval Combat for 5th Edition: THE FLUYT!

A Fluyt is an older ship, and probably didn't get too much real world use by the Nassau-age pirates, but it's a perfect merchant vessel: the Mayflower (the ship used by the pilgrims) was actually a fluyt. That being said, it makes a really great vessel for mid-campaign, as players can have different areas of the ship they can make their own, but it's not SO big that they need hundreds of crew to man it. And, this is a fantasy game!

I took sooooo much extra time on this one. The top deck and the side view are going to be featured as one of two battle maps printed inside the new Pirate Borg Starter Set, so I took some extra time to do a cross section of the ship, with the hopes of making it useable at the table without all the decks. You'd be able to fold both maps in half and use them for ship to ship combat, and then unfold them for maritime travel 9or hull exploration. But then of course, those of you that play on a VTT need ALL THE DECKS too, so I made them.

Per request, I also created 5 "sinking" phased versions, plus a shipwreck.

Do not get too excited — I will not be doing side views for all the ships... but I will be doing a similar treatment for the Bermuda Sloop, my next map. So stay tuned for that! Also look to see some Trapped in the Tropics playtest content in the next month or so.

Now that I've completed the core ships in the standard array of pirate vessels, I plan to go back through them all and remaster the naval combat tokens and ship tiles so we can have them all in one place and all be the same format. No promises as to a timeline on this, but I'm thinking perhaps this spring once I finished all the content for Down Among the Dead
