Nautiloid: One Release or Two?
Added 2021-05-10 22:56:19 +0000 UTCHey everyone. I've very excited about this next map; I think it's one of my best. It's a Mind Flayer ship, but could also be a Merfolk or Sahuagin sea monster vessel. Help me decide how much time to spend on the variations for it. Here's a preview of one version I've already completed:

Both will come out back to back this month. These variations are suggestions and the actual results might vary (like when you guys make some killer suggestions in the comments!) All backgrounds will be seamless (Captain tier and higher) and will scroll under the ship in the Foundry VTT module using Parallaxia. The biggest difference is how long i will spend "crashing" the ship!
Option 1: Only Do One Release
- Giger (Black ship, Green pools and controls, in dark space) [Pictured above]
- Old School (Yellow and Blue ship, colorful controls, in colorful space)
- Ocean Vessel (Add Masts and sails, submerging half of the ship)
- Baldur's Gate 3 (muted Purple and Brown ship, flying through the cloudy sky)
- Crashed Ice World (perfect for Rime of the Frost Maiden, buried in snow)
- Crashed Tropical (perfect for Call from the Deep)
- Less detail in debris and wreckage for the crashed maps
- Good option for people who know they won't use a Nautiloid in their campaign
Option 2: Two Release - Normal Ship and Crashed
Release 1
- Old School (Yellow and blue ship, colorful controls, colorful space)
- Giger (Black ship, Green pools and controls, dark space)
- Baldur's Gate 3 (Purple and Brown, flying over City)
- Ocean Vessel (Adding sails, submerging half of the ship)
- Underwater (merfolk/aquatic ship colors)
- Flying through the sky (some other ship colors - add suggestions below)
- Maybe in the some other planes like Astral/Avernus/Shadowfell/Fey?
- Desert crash
- Rain?
- Bloody massacre?
Release 2
- Crashed Iceworld Day (For Rime of the Frost Maiden, buried in snow)
- Crashed Iceworld Night (For Rime of the Frost Maiden, buried in snow)
- Crashed Tropical Day (For Call from the Deep)
- Crashed Tropical Night (For Call from the Deep)
- Crashed Temperate
- Crashed on Fire Day
- Crash on Fire Night
- Crashed Underwater
- More Detail in the debris and wreckage

Ah yes I guess I pictured it being on a tropical island, but the winter one for Icewind Dale will work for both settings. I read the chapter again... I’m not really sure the battlemap needs a beach on it as the water could be just off “screen”. Probably doing winter/rocks, jungle.beach, desert, and temperate forest. And underwater.

2021-05-12 04:48:48 +0000 UTCI’ve already started working on it for you. GREAT idea.

2021-05-12 04:46:48 +0000 UTCAh! For Call from the Deep, can you make a crashed version matching Gundarlun? It's not tropical, but a snowy viking island. "Gundarlun endured winter for almost eight months of the year, and was regularly locked in sea ice." My players will be arriving next month!

2021-05-11 22:50:58 +0000 UTCThat's amazing. Is it possible to add a version that's just a giant nautiloid, as in the sea creature, and not the ship? It's always great to have some weird sea monsters. If that's too much, maybe a colour variant for the ocean vessel that's red and white? To really hammer home that ocean theme.
2021-05-11 15:54:39 +0000 UTCCan you see the Pool room above? it's totally that - perfect for an elder brain. Its only about 8x8 though, but the interiors isn't THAT big and any larger wouldn't work unless you just scale the whole map up

2021-05-10 23:14:29 +0000 UTCI love it. Would be amazing to also have one optional interior room that could serve as a big boss arena area, too.
